Two persons were killed in a road accident at Perunagar near Manampathy on Wednesday morning.
According to police, the mishap took place around 9 a.m. when Rajendran of K. K. Nagar in Chennai and Krishnan of Porur near Chennai were returning to Uthiramerur from Cheyyar on a motorcycle. Both of them, who stayed at their relative's house at Uthiramerur on Tuesday, died on the spot after the motorcycle which they were riding, and a car proceeding to Hyderabad from Kumbakonam collided on the Vandavasi-Kancheepuram Road near MGR Nagar, Perunagar.
In another accident on the Chennai-Bangalore National Highway on Tuesday night, a student of a college at Enathur near here was killed and two of his friends sustained injuries.
Police said that Jayanth and his friends Sandeep and Nadukula Manikanda went to a nearby hotel on a motorcycle to have dinner. The mishap took place around 10-30 p.m. while they were returning to their hostel as the motorcycle which they were riding collided with a goods carrier at Vedal on the National Highway.
While Jayanth died on the spot, the other two sustained injuries and were rushed to the District Government Headquarters Hospital, police added.
