Tamil film fraternity protests over controversial Sri Lankan article

Members of the Tamil film fraternity assembled here on Monday to protest against Sri Lankan government for a controversial article degrading Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The article was published on the Sri Lankan Defence Ministry’s website.

Members of Tamil Directors Union and Producers Council protested outside the Sri Lankan consulate.

Tamil film stars Vijay, Suriya, Vinay Rai, A.R Murugadoss, R. Sarath Kumar, Vikraman, Keyar and Sivakumar participated in the protest.

The article also >created furore in Rajya Sabha , leading to the house being adjourned till noon.

Following controversy over the article, Sri Lanka’s Defence Ministry >issued an “unqualified apology” on Friday.
