A group of Tamil MPs from Sri Lanka on Wednesday met Communist Party of India national secretary D. Raja and conveyed to him the need for active Indian involvement in working out a political solution for the ethnic problem in the island nation.
The delegation, which also consisted of Tamil leaders, besides MPs of Tamil National Federation (TNF) — Sambandam, Suresh Premachandran and Senadhiraja — explained the present situation of Tamils in relief camps post-war and the need to provide them proper rehabilitation and political solution.
The CPI MP said his party would take up the Tamils issue both inside and outside Parliament. Mr. Raja wondered why the Centre was not taking up the “pathetic and inhuman conditions” of Tamils living in relief camps at the United Nations.
