Sekar Babu hints at joining DMK soon

January 28, 2011 01:59 am | Updated 01:59 am IST - CHENNAI:

P.K. Sekar Babu, All-India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) Member of Legislative Assembly representing Dr. Radhakrishnan Nagar in Chennai, on Thursday indicated that he would join the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) soon. “I have not yet met Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi. But, I am being pushed to go to the other side,” he told The Hindu.

The two-time MLA said he had been careful not to do anything that would damage the image of the AIADMK and leadership, even after he was removed as the North Chennai district secretary, a post he had held for nine years. But no one in his party was ready to listen to his views.

For the last couple of years, particularly after the Lok Sabha election in 2009, the party leadership had not trusted him.

Asked for his reaction to the perception in certain quarters that he was not loyal to the party during the Lok Sabha election, he asked , “If I had not been faithful to my party, would the CPI [ally of AIADMK] have got higher votes in my constituency?”
