Sasikala has shown undue haste: Gangai Amaran

Published - February 09, 2017 01:29 am IST - TIRUPUR:

Well-known Kollywood music composer Gangai Amaran, who is now a BJP member, on Wednesday hit out at AIADMK general secretary V.K. Sasikala, saying she was in a hurry to assume power.

“Ms. Sasikala should have sought the opinion of the people about her desire to become Chief Minister. Instead, she was heard saying that Mr. Panneerselvam asked her to be the Chief Minister. But he has clarified under which circumstances these things happened,” he said.

Mr. Gangai Amaran said his reaction to the latest political developments also reflects the anger over how his 22-acre land at Paiyanur near Chengalpet was forcefully taken away for a paltry sum. “I do not have to tell the story as everything was narrated and was part of the disproportionate wealth case against Jayalalithaa and Sasikala,” he said.

The music composer, as a prosecution witness in the case, had deposed during the trial that he was forced to sell the land and execute sale deeds transferring the plot in the name of Ms. Sasikala for a paltry sum of ₹13 lakh though the property was actually worth much higher.

According to him, what Mr. Panneerselvam did and said on Tuesday night were the things that were already going through the minds of the people.
