Ramasundaram to retire voluntarily

The State Government on Friday announced that S. Ramasundaram, Principal Secretary (Public Works), would retire voluntarily from service on Tuesday (November 30).

An officer of the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) belonging to the 1979 batch, Mr. Ramasundaram served in various positions including as District Collector of the erstwhile North Arcot (1991-1993), Joint Secretary in the Union government's Department of Commerce (2000-2005) and Chairman and Managing Director of the Tamil Nadu Industries Development Corporation (2006-2009). He became Principal Secretary of the PWD in May 2009.

On his long career in government service, Mr. Ramasundaram regards his last posting as most challenging in view of his association with the Assembly-Secretariat complex project.

K. Dhanavel, who is currently Revenue Secretary, will succeed Mr. Ramasundaram, according to an order issued by Chief Secretary S. Malathi.

V.K. Jeyakodi, Principal Secretary/Commissioner of Commercial Taxes, has been posted Principal Secretary (Revenue). S.S. Jawahar, Secretary, Department for the Welfare of the Differently Abled, will hold full additional charge of the post of Secretary of the Tourism and Culture Department until further orders.

R. Lily, Deputy Secretary in the Transport Department, has been posted as Joint Commissioner of Civil Supplies and Consumer Protection.
