Shortly after the Srirangam Assembly by-election result was declared on Monday, AIADMK general secretary Jayalalithaa said the verdict had proved that her party had the strength to defeat all “conspiracies” hatched by political opponents.
In a statement thanking the electorate, she said: “The by-election result, especially the huge margin of victory, only shows that our party has the strength to overcome all odds and defeat the conspiracies hatched by wicked political opponents.”
Ms. Jayalalithaa recalled that she had issued an appeal to voters in Srirangam, highlighting the development work initiated under her regime in the past three-and-a-half years for the temple town, and sought their support for her party’s candidate as a form of recognition for the government’s achievements.
