On the first day of submission of nomination papers, two persons – one person each for the assembly constituencies of Vandavasi and Tiruchendur - on Wednesday, filed the papers for the by-elections to be held next month.

A release issued by the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Naresh Gupta stated that the list of leaders for whom political parties desiring to get exemption from the provision of treating their expenditure on account of travel by air or any other means as that of their parties' candidates or their agents, should be communicated to the Election Commission of India or the CEO on or before December 2.

All other expenses of the parties relating to the campaign for the candidate would be required to be included in the account of election expenses of the candidates concerned.
