Local bodies elections: arrangements reviewed

Tamil Nadu Election Commissioner D. Chandrasekaran on Sunday reviewed the arrangements to be made for the conduct of byelections to the local bodies caused by deaths or resignations in Pudukottai district.

He advised the officials to take precautionary measures for the smooth conduct of the bypolls to be held in October.

Mr. Chandrasekaran also reviewed a copy of revised voters' lists released by the local bodies. By-elections would be held for the posts of village panchayat president / panchayat union ward councillor in Karambakudi, Pudukottai, Avudaiyarkovil, Annavasal, Arimalam, Aranthangi, Ponnamaravathy, Viralimalai and Thiruvarankulam.

District Collector A. Suganthi explained the poll-related arrangements to be made by the district administration. Superintendent of Police P. Moorthi; Municipal Chairman K. Balakrishnan were among those present.
