V. Iqbal Manchuri (29), the prime accused in the sensational murder of Chennai-based advocate Madanagopal, was awarded life sentence by the Additional District and Sessions Judge in Krishnagiri on Tuesday.
Three others arrested in this case — R. Jaleel Shah, A. Mohmed Isan alias Hasan from Madhya Pradesh and P. Balakrishnan from Chennai — were acquitted. Two other accused in this case are still at large and Rajarathinam died during trial.
The case was transferred to District and Sessions Court in Krishnagiri during 2006, as nobody wanted to appear for the case in Chennai. The advocate was shot dead in Pondy Bazaar on July 6, 2002.
