IIM for Puducherry in 12th Five-Year Plan

Union Minister for Human Resource Development Kapil Sibal has “accepted” the request for establishing an Indian Institute of Management (IIM) in Puducherry. This will be done in the 12th Five-Year Plan of the Union government, Union Minister of State for Prime Minister's Office V. Narayanasamy said here on Thursday.

Inaugurating the new building for Subramania Bharati School of Tamil Language and Literature (SBSTLL) at the Pondicherry University, Mr. Narayanasamy said that subsequent to the establishment of an NIT at Karaikal, a request was made to get an IIM for Puducherry.

This was part of the efforts to make the Union Territory the “education hub” of South India, he said.
