A city magistrate court on Wednesday recalled a bailable warrant issued by it against Soundarya Rajinikanth, daughter of actor Rajinikanth, and Latha Rajinikanth, his wife, in connection with a complaint of cheque dishonour.
The court later permitted the complainant, who said that the case had been settled out of court, to withdraw the complaint.
Sumerchand Bafana of Teynampet had filed a complaint with the XXIII Metropolitan Magistrate, Saidapet, stating that the two had obtained a loan of Rs.20 lakh from him for business exigencies in August 2009. Towards repayment, the borrowers issued two cheques, which bounced.
Magistrate K. Ravi had posted the matter for hearing on Wednesday. As the two did not turn up, he ordered issue of a bailable warrant against them. Later, the complainant filed a petition seeking permission to withdraw the complaint.
In his order, the Magistrate said the reason for seeking withdrawal was acceptable and justifiable. Hence, he was permitting him to withdraw the complaint. He was dismissing the complaint under section 257 Cr.P.C (Withdrawal of complaint.)
