Cleaner from Kerala charred to death

Mohamed Hanifa (47) of Idukki district in Kerala, cleaner of a van, was charred to death when the vehicle caught fire after colliding with another vehicle on Thirukkampuliyur bridge near here early on Thursday.

The van was carrying tapioca to Namakkal from Tenkasi. It was said that the van caught fire minutes after hitting another vehicle, which was ahead of it. Mr. Hanifa, who could not come out of the van, was trapped and died on the spot. Ansari (35), van driver, fled the spot fearing violence. Karur town police have registered a case.
