The centenary celebrations of Montfort Anglo India Higher Secondary School in Yercaud will be held on July 22 and 23. Over 2,000 alumni are expected to participate.

The school was established by Rev Bro Denis on June 1, 1917, with 17 students on its rolls.

It remained a firm male bastion until the new millennium when in 2002 it admitted girl students into Classes XI and XII.

Sports is a mainstay activity at Montfort as adequate infrastructure is in place. Literary and cultural activities, music and fine arts are a weekly affair and there are established clubs and societies for each of them.

The ‘Montfort Alumni Association’ is one of the most active associations in the country and the annual meets attract alumni from all over the world.

The school was started during World War I, celebrated its silver jubilee in the middle of World War II and is heading to celebrate its centenary.

The celebrations will begin with a sports event forthe alumni on July 22, followed by the release of a special coffee table book and a ‘social evening’ on July 23 and the annual general body meeting of the alumni on July 24. Registrations can be made online at: montfortalumni
