: Six resolutions were passed at the CPI(M) State committee meeting held in Chennai on Wednesday.
The party has opposed linking ration cards with Aadhaar cards for buying essentials commodities at ration shops when a significant part of population is yet to get their Aadhaar cards.
The State government had gone against the Supreme Court ruling that said that social schemes should not be linked to Aadhaar cards, it said.
In another resolution, the party urged the Ministry of Culture to continue the archaeological excavations at Keezhadi where 3,000-year-old artefacts had been unearthed. The Left party has extended support to jallikattu and has urged the Centre to enact an ordinance to enable the conduct of the bull-taming sport.
It also asked the State government to settle the pension dues of State transport staff and criticised the police for unleashing violence against its cadre as they were staging a protest in Pallikaranai.
The meeting was attended by senior leaders Prakash Karat, State secretary G. Ramakrishnan, K. Varadarajan, U. Vasuki, P. Sampath, K. Balakrishnan among others.
