May 01, 2010 11:22 pm | Updated November 11, 2016 05:37 am IST - CUDDALORE:

Pon. Radhakrishnan, State president of the Bharatiya Janata Party, has urged the Centre and the State government to allow V. Parvathi, 86-year-old ailing mother of V. Prabakaran, chief of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam, to visit Tamil Nadu for treatment.

Addressing a press conference here on Saturday, he said when patients from Pakistan and those in transit were given treatment on Indian soil why should not Ms. Parvathi, he asked.

On Nalini's plea

On Nalini Sriharan's plea for premature release from prison, Mr. Radhakrishnan said it should not be forgotten that she was involved in the assassination of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi. The Congress might compromise on its stand but the BJP was firm in its view that Nalini should be duly punished.
