3 Indian Gaurs rescued

May 17, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:51 am IST - NATHAM:

Six Indian Gaurs fell into a 21-foot-deep abandoned and dry well in a farm at Pattanampatti village on the foothills of Alagar Hill. The forest officials had managed to rescue three of them on Saturday. The three other animals had died of hunger and thirst in the well itself.

Since, the well was situated in area full of bushes, it is presumed that that gaurs could not see it. After foul smell emanated from the well, villagers went in search of the source of stench and saw the gaurs in the well.

Acting on information, the forest officials inspected the well and saw the three animals struggling for survival. They created a ramp by dumping soil into the well.

Later, the animals climbed through the ramp and fled into the nearby forest.

Carcasses of the three animals were buried on the spot.
