As many as 127 State government employees, including 100 police personnel, have been chosen for receiving Anna medals this year.
According to an official release, with a view to recognising the outstanding devotion to duty of the Police, Fire and Rescue Service, Prison Service, Home Guards and Finger Print Service personnel in the State, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister's medals are awarded on the occasion of former Chief Minister C.N. Annadurai's birthday that falls on September 15.
Accordingly, this year 100 police personnel from the rank of Additional Superintendent of Police to the rank of Constables, 10 Fire and Rescue Service personnel from the rank of Deputy Director to Fireman, 10- Prison Service personnel from the rank of Assistant Jailor to Grade I Warder, five Home Guards from the rank of Divisional Commander to Section Leader and an Additional Superintendent of Police and a Deputy Superintendent of Police in Police Finger Print Service have been awarded the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister's Anna Medal. The Chief Minister has ordered payment of double the amount so far paid.
Lumpsum grant
The recipients of this medal are also eligible for a lump sum grant according to the ranks as specified in the Medal Rules.
Fire personnel
Besides, 16 Fire and Rescue Service personnel and posthmously a Sub-Inspector of Police have been awarded the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister's Gallantry Medal in recognition of their gallant act.
The recipients of this medal will be paid monthly medal allowance as specified in the Medal Rules.
Medal parade
The medals will be presented by the Chief Minister in a ceremonial medal parade to be held later, the statement said.
