Dharapuram Bar Association has petitioned Madras High Court Chief Justice Sanjay Kishan Kaul requesting him to order an inquiry into the missing of case files and important documents from sub-court at Dharapuram.
“It has come out in the recent days that as many as 117 case files and important documents like promissory notes, unregistered wills, sale agreements, sale deeds and mortgage deeds, among others, were missing from the said court premises,” M. Rajendran, secretary of Dharapuram Bar Association, told The Hindu .
According to lawyers, files have gone missing mainly due to handling of the documents by some inefficient people in the administrative.
“We have already taken to the notice of the authorities the dissatisfaction over the recent appointments of certain persons in the administrative side of the courts who are not efficient enough to handle the court documents,” said Mr. Rajendran.
In the representation to Mr. Justice Kaul, the lawyers pointed out the need to recover the files at the earliest apart from punishing the errant officials.
Apart from the petitioned moved by the lawyers, social organisations like Dalit Liberation Movement-Tamil Nadu too had forwarded petition on the same issue to District Collector, who is also the District Magistrate.
“We have asked the Collector to represent himself the issue to the authorities for speedier action to recover the files,” said S. Karuppaiah, state joint general secretary of Dalit Liberation Movement.
