enior BJP leader and former Bihar deputy chief minister Sushil Kumar Modi on Tuesday spoke out in support of Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley and demanded action against BJP MP Kirti Azad for ‘embarrassing the party’ on the Delhi District Cricket Association (DDCA) issue.

“BJP should take disciplinary action against Kirti Azad and some other MPs for embarrassing the party and playing into the hands of the opposition”, tweeted Mr. Sushil Modi while adding that “Bihar BJP is solidly behind @arunjaitley (sic)…the party should not hesitate in taking action against disgruntled elements.”

Mr Modi’s tweets against Mr Azad come amid the snowballing controversy with Mr Jaitley slapping a defamation case against Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal even as Mr. Azad dared the Minister to do the same against him as he [Azad] had spilled the beans on the scam in the cricket body .Son of former Bihar chief minister Bhagwat Jha Azad and MP from Darbhanga, Kirti Azad had reportedly first raised the issue of corruption in the DDCA when Mr. Jaitley was the chairman . Mr Azad also recently demanded an ED and DRI probe into the affairs of the cricket body .

Besides, Mr Azad, other BJP MPs from Bihar including Shatrughan Sinha and R.K. Singh, also putt the party leadership in an embarrassing situation with their statements and comments. On Monday the party’s Bihar unit had expelled party leader Monajir Hassan for six years for his “anti-party activities”.
