A special court at the Jai Prakash Narayan Apex Trauma Centre of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) on Wednesday started recording the Unnao rape survivor’s statement.

The main accused and former BJP MLA, Kuldeep Singh Sengar, and co-accused Shashi Singh were also brought to the AIIMS, where the survivor has been under treatment.

The court, which is conducting in-camera proceedings, has been set up temporarily at the hospital at the direction of the Delhi High Court last week. The High Court has asked the hospital authorities to ensure that all closed-circuit television cameras installed in the room housing the temporary court are switched off. Throughout the proceedings, an experienced nursing officer will attend to the survivor.
