A special CBI court on Friday convicted Rupam Pathak, the prime accused in the sensational murder of Bharatiya Janata Party legislator Raj Kishore Keshri.
Designated CBI Judge V.N. Singh pronounced Ms. Pathak guilty of stabbing to death Keshri on January 4, 2011 but said the quantum of punishment would be announced on April 10.
The Patna High Court had rejected Ms. Pathak's bail application in September last year.
Mr. Keshri, the then BJP MLA from Purnea district, was stabbed by Ms. Pathak at an open assembly at his residence in full view of people.
She was manhandled by the legislator's minions before being turned over to the police.
Ms. Pathak, the principal of a local private school, had alleged consistent sexual misconduct by the slain MLA.
While she had filed a case in June 2010 accusing the legislator of molesting her in 2007, she later retracted her statement alleging pressure from the legislator's side.
