Defence Secretary R.K. Mathur was given additional charge of Secretary, Department of Defence Research and Development Organisation for a period of three months.
He will take charge on January 31 when Dr. Avinash Chander demits office after the government curtailed his extended contract which otherwise would have ended in May 2016.

Mr. Mathur will hold the additional charge for a period of three months or until further orders, whichever is earlier, according to a notification by the Department of Personnel and Training.
