The Indian Railways have revised the arrival timings of over 100 trains, pushing them by up to an hour, citing ongoing infrastructure repair and maintenance work.

The Northern Railways has revised the timings of 95 trains with effect from July 12, 2018.

“Several safety and infrastructure repair works are being carried out over different sections, affecting scheduled arrival of the trains on major stations across Northern Railways,” an official said. Pointing that it was only the arrival time at the destination that had changed, the official added that this would help passengers plan their onward travel based on the new time table.

Incidentally, in the last financial year almost 30% of the trains ran late leading to one of the worst on time performance by the Railways in recent years.

While the official stressed that the move was to keep the passengers informed, it may also help the Railways improve its punctuality record. The delay in timings range from 15 minutes to one hour.
