An earthquake of magnitude of 4.9 on the Richter scale hit the Bahadurgarh region on Delhi-Haryana border around 1 p.m. on Monday.
Terming the quake as of "slight" magnitude, experts at the India Meteorological Department said preliminary estimates indicated that it occurred at the depth of 9 km.
There were no immediate reports of any casualty or damage to structures. "No major damage is expected, since it had a magnitude of 4.9 only. At the most there could be some fall of plaster in poorly build structures close to the epicentre", an IMD official said.
The area is known for mild seismic activity, he added.
