Television footage of visually challenged children of a school at Timmapuram village being caned by the Correspondent caused uproar in the city on Monday.

Angry parents and social activists gathered at the Greenfield Residential School for the Visually Challenged on the city outskirts on Monday and damaged the furniture. The Correspondent and the Principal have been taken into custody.

A couple of Telugu news channels began airing the visuals, showing the correspondent K. Venkateswara Rao, a visually challenged person himself, caning three boys in the classroom, from Monday morning. At first, the school management said the visuals were fake. Subsequently, some parents and activists interacted with the three children who had suffered injuries on their back and picked up an altercation with the management.
