Stepping up the "MainBhiChowkidar" campaign, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has added "Chowkidar" to his Twitter handle name.

Mr. Modi had only on March 16 tweeted that everyone who was "fighting corruption, dirt, social evils" and all those "working hard for the progress of India" was a Chowkidar.

"Your Chowkidar is standing firm & serving the nation. But, I am not alone...today, every Indian is saying-#MainBhiChowkidar," he said.

Following suit, BJP chief Amit Shah and other party leaders, including Union Ministers, have also added "Chowkidar" to their Twitter handle name, pushing the campaign forward, as a counter to Congress' "ChowkidarChorHai" jibe.

By March 17 afternoon, "#ChowkidarPhirSe" was the top trending tagline on the social media platform.
