PM Modi condoles passing of Journalist Ravish Tiwari

Indian media has lost one of its bright names with the demise of Ravish Tiwari, said Prime Minister Narendra Modi condoling the death of the reputed journalist in Gurgaon on Saturday.

Mr. Tiwari was the National Political Editor and the Chief of National Bureau of The Indian Express. His reporting and editorial leadership drew widespread admiration because of his deep understanding of national and local issues.  “I would enjoy reading his reports and also periodically interact with him. He was insightful and humble. Condolences to his colleagues and many friends,” said the Prime Minister in his message of condolence.

Mr. Tiwari, 40, wrote extensively on the Union Government and election trends in recent years. He was ailing from cancer since June 2020. He is survived by his wife, parents and a brother.

President Ram Nath Kovind also condoled the demise of Mr Tiwari and said he chose journalism over other lucrative professions. “He had an enviable knack for reporting and incisive commentary. His sudden and shocking demise silences a distinct voice in news media,” said Mr. Kovind.

Chief Minister of Orissa Navin Patnaik expressed his sorrow at the passing of Mr. Tiwari who was highly popular in the community of media professionals and had many friends.

BJP leader Prakash Javadekar described Mr. Tiwari as “one of the finest, prolific and scholarly journalists.” Executive Director of The Indian Express, Anant Goenka, said, “He remained a curious mind, learning with humility till his last days. We will miss his insight and wit”.
