Minister for Human Resources Development (HRD) M M Pallam Raju, who had tendered his resignation in the wake of Union Government's decision to create Telangana, said he will "continue to do his work" as the Prime Minister had insisted that his ministry was an important one.

He was responding to a query on the status of his resignation from his post in the light of the Union Government's decision. "My three colleagues and I had submitted our resignations. We were reflecting what the public in our area felt. But, the Prime Minister said my ministry was important. I will not let the ministry suffer because of the Minister," he said during an interaction with presspersons on the sidelines of an All India Conference of Higher Education Ministers in Bangalore on Monday.

However, he said he had refused to withdraw his resignation and instead said: "I will continue to do my work."
