Pakistan politicising Kartarpur: India

December 06, 2018 09:48 pm | Updated 09:49 pm IST - NEW DELHI

India on Thursday hit out at Pakistan alleging that Islamabad has tried to politicise the Kartarpur corridor. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) also alleged that Pakistani authorities created difficulties for the two Indian Ministers who visited Kartarpur on 28 November.

“It was unfortunate that Pakistan has attempted to politicise a religious issue related to the sentiments of the Sikh community. We hope that Pakistan will take all necessary steps to implement their announcements,” the Official Spokesperson said.

The Indian response is the latest in an ongoing exchange that began when the Pakistan PM Imran Khan declared open work on the construction of the corridor. The Spokesperson also pointed out that protocol officials accompanying the Indian Ministers were not allowed to work smoothly during inauguration event held in Kartarpur.
