Gunmen shot dead a policewoman outside her residence in south Kashmir’s Shopian on Saturday.
Khushboo Jan, Special Police Officer (SPO), was fired at from a close range near her house around 2:40 p.m. at Vehil village of Shopian district, said a police official. The victim breathed her last on the way to the nearby hospital.
SPOs are lower rung police personnel hired for non-combat duties.This is the fourth such attack in the last three days where unidentified armed men have attacked political workers, former soldiers and civilians in south Kashmir.
The attacks come at a time when Jammu and Kashmir is heading for the Lok Sabha polls from April 11.
