The Congress government in Rajasthan has decided to integrate the Centre’s Ayushman Bharat scheme with the State’s Bhamashah health insurance scheme and implement the new plan from September 1. The number of beneficiary families is likely to increase from 1 crore to 1.10 crore with the coverage of more ailments in the integrated scheme.
The State government had received a large number of complaints of irregularities in the Bhamashah scheme, which was launched during the previous BJP regime. The integrated scheme, named the Ayushman Bharat-Mahatma Gandhi Rajasthan Health Insurance Scheme, will be implemented through a dedicated portal developed by the Department of Information Technology.
Better use of technology
Medical and Health Minister Raghu Sharma said here on Friday that the new scheme would be a step in the direction of ensuring the right to health for the common people. The complaints of irregularities will be addressed with a better use of technology along with the provisions for stringent action against the guilty persons, including those working at hospitals and with the insurance company.
The Department will shortly select a third party administrator, who will look after the claim processing services for eligible families.
