Himachal to honour its Kabaddi players

The Himachal Pradesh government has decided to honour all its Kabaddi players, who brought laurels to the country in the recently held Asian Games at Incheon, South Korea, with Rs. 20 lakh each.

These athletes are Ajay Thakur from Solan district, of the men’s team that has defeated Iran by a narrow margin of 27-25. Ajay’s father Chottu Ram was a wrestler and had won medals for the hill State in past.

Puja Thakur from Bilaspur and Kavita Thakur of Kullu Manali who were part of the gold medal winning Indian women’s team will also be given Rs. 20 lakh each. Shooter Vijay Kumar of Hamirpur who won a silver medal in 25 meter centre fire team event will be given Rs. 10 lakh.
