BJP MLAs felicitate Narendra Modi

May 14, 2014 02:35 am | Updated 02:35 am IST - Gandhinagar:

Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi was felicitated on Tuesday by BJP MLAs against the backdrop of exit polls predicting that BJP-led NDA is set to form government at the Centre.

“It is the ‘mantra’ of my life to play any role given by my party with commitment and I will ensure that there is no slackness in it,” Modi said in his address to MLAs after the BJP legislature party meeting at the State Secretariat.

Contrary to speculations that deliberations will be held at the meeting on Modi’s likely successor in State, if he were to form government at Centre and head it as prime minister, the meeting was centred around Modi’s contribution to “BJP’s victory.”

Sources said everything related to Modi’s successor will be decided only after results are out on May 16.

On the occasion, BJP legislators hailed Modi for conducting an extensive campaign and bringing BJP close to a “decisive win.”

Amid slogans, Mr. Modi gave a detailed account of canvassing he had done for the party candidates, distance he has clocked while covering the length and breadth of the country, use of technology, number of rallies and other issues.
