The Aam Aadmi Party will begin its ‘Punjab Yatra’ across the State on May 1 to identify the issues of public importance that can be raised in the upcoming Punjab Assembly session.
AAP MLA and leader of opposition in Punjab Assembly H.S. Phoolka on Saturday said the motive of the “yatra’’ is to reach the people at grass-root level and know their problems.
“This “yatra’’ will begin on May 1 from Amritsar. We will ask the people about their issues and compile questions based on it, which will be raised in the State assembly,” said Mr. Phoolka here at a press conference.
Mr. Phoolka along with other party leaders, including Aman Arora, Pirmal Singh Dhaula, Kulwant Singh Pandori, Jagtar Singh Hissowal and Amarjit Singh Sandhoa, raised concerns over terrible law and order situation in the State.
“Nothing has changed with the change of guard in the State and Congress leaders are behaving worse than Akalis,” said Mr. Phoolka, quoting an incident of Congress MLA Ramanjit Sikki threatening a police officer to work as per the directions of Congress leaders or to be ready for consequences.
