Of crimes, offences, and pending cases: NCRB's 'Crime in India 2016' report

There was an increase of 2.6% in crimes in 2016 compared to the previous year, according to the data released by the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) on Thursday.

Uttar Pradesh recorded the highest number of heinous crimes such as murder and those against women in 2016.

Delhi has topped the charts among 19 metropolitan cities in the country with 38.8 % of the total crime reported under the Indian Penal Code in 2016.

Murder, kidnapping, abduction, crime against women, economic offences, offence against property are a few heads where Delhi stands at number one.
