No let-up in swine flu deaths

Swine flu deaths continued to be reported across the country, with the number going up to 743 on Thursday.

As per officials of the Health Ministry, 32 deaths and 824 cases were reported on Thursday, with the highest number coming from Rajasthan followed by Gujarat.

The Ministry has increased surveillance of screening and treatment of the flu and has asked the States to take stringent measures to ensure there is adequate availability of drugs.

Gujarat, Rajasthan, Delhi, Maharashtra and Telangana have been reporting a surge in the number of swine flu cases.

Health Ministry officials said fresh orders have been placed for procuring swine flu testing kits and Tamiflu tablets and syrup to ensure there are no gaps in supply.

Meanwhile, Health Minister J.P. Nadda also reviewed H1N1 situation in Uttar Pradesh and offered all central assistance as requested by the State, an official release said.
