Mumbai police initiative: SMS your complaint

May 10, 2011 02:26 am | Updated 02:26 am IST - Mumbai:

Following in the footsteps of important metros in the country, the Mumbai Police has now launched an SMS complaint service wherein people would be able to sms their grievances to the police. The two toll-free mobile numbers activated for this service are: 77381 44144 and 77381 33133.

“We launched the service on Saturday and, within two days, we have received more than 300 messages,” Deputy Commissioner of Police (Operations) Rajkumar Vhatkar said.

People, he said, could voice their grievances in relation to non-registration of complaints or lack of proper investigation.

“We have received many SMSes about many things like noise pollution, passport processing, offences not being registered. Senior officials will look into it. This will help us in improving our functioning,” he said.
