Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to deliver a late Deepavali “gift” to his constituency, Varanasi, in the form of projects worth over ₹2,400 crore.

On November 12, Mr. Modi will launch 17 infrastructure projects in Varanasi. While 10 projects built at a total cost of over ₹2,300 crore would be inaugurated, foundation would be laid for seven costing ₹111 crore.

U.P. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, who reviewed a meeting in Varanasi on Thursday, said this would be the “biggest development-related gift” by Mr. Modi to his constituency.

On Monday, Mr. Modi will dedicate the Multi Modal Terminal on the Ganga to the nation. The MMTs are being built as part of the Jal Marg Vikas project, which aims to develop the stretch of river Ganga between Varanasi and Haldia for navigation of large vessels.
