A youth was stabbed to death by a neighbour allegedly during a squabble over drawing water from a well at Therthally in Alakkode here late night on Tuesday.
The deceased has been identified as Sarath Kumar (28), a resident of Therthally. A truck driver, he received multiple stab injuries in the attack. He died at the Pariyaram Medical College Hospital.
The police said that search was on for the murder suspect identified as Puthanpura Jose, the victim’s neighbour. He fled after the crime, the police said.
Water dispute
The police further said that the well used to be shared by the families of Sarath Kumar and Jose till the dispute cropped up between the two families over the sharing of well water.
