Leader of the Opposition V.D. Satheesan on Saturday said that he did not require the advice of Governor Arif Mohammed Khan, who lacked any integrity and political consistency in his life.

Responding to Mr. Khan’s statement that the Opposition Leader should learn from leaders like Oommen Chandy and Ramesh Chennithala, Mr. Satheesan said he would never take the advice of Mr. Khan, who had migrated across five political parties before he became Governor. “He had never shown any integrity while serving these parties,” alleged Mr. Satheesan.

The Governor had criticised the Opposition Leader for trying to disrupt his policy address at the start of the Budget session of the Assembly on Friday.

Explaining that Mr. Khan is acting as the Sangh parivar’s spokesperson in Kerala over the last few days, Mr. Satheesan said the State leaders of the BJP would lose their relevance as Mr. Khan has taken on their role. “He is criticising the government one day and compromising with it the next day,” said Mr. Satheesan.

He alleged that the LDF government lacked the courage to rein in the Governor, who is behaving more like a politician. The government should tell him that he should not function against his constitutional responsibilities, he said.

Mr. Satheesan alleged that the CPI(M) and the BJP were hand-in-glove and termed the actions involving the Governor and the LDF government over the last few weeks as “a mere drama to fool the people”.
