The State government should publish a White Paper on the implementation of the first phase of the Kuttanad Package, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) State unit president P.S. Sreedharan Pillai has said.
The BJP State chief was speaking to media persons after visiting the flood-hit areas in Kuttanad on Friday.
“Those demanding the implementation of the second Kuttanad Package should explain what happened to the first package. The State government should reveal the exact nature of funds utilised under the first package,” Mr. Pillai said. He said that the Centre would sanction necessary funds to compensate the damage due to floods in the region.
₹80 crore sanctioned
“The Union government has already provided ₹80 crore. A Central team will visit the State on August 7, and we will raise the issue with them,” Mr. Pillai added.
He visited several relief camps and areas ravaged by floodwater.
