General secretary of the CPI(M) Sitaram Yechury has said that after the victory in the recent Assembly elections held in the country, the communal forces led by the BJP-RSS combine are under the illusion that they will be able to create an India where there will be no other political opposition.
“The BJP-RSS combine is a four-faced monster that has reduced India to a junior partner of US imperialism,” Mr. Yechury said while addressing a gathering at the Asramam maidan here on Saturday in connection with the centenary of the October Revolution observation organised by the district unit of the CPI(M).
He said that after the BJP came to power at the Centre, severe communalisation is being promoted in every sphere. Private armies with the patronage of the BJP and the RSS were being created to unleash fear and destroy all rights guaranteed by the Constitution. He said that the commitment of the Left parties to the secular democratic traditions of the country makes its supporters the true patriots.
“The BJP is not at all worried about the Congress since half the number of BJP members in Parliament were formerly Congress MPs and the BJP is confident that more Congress leaders will walk into their fold. That is the particular reason why the BJP-RSS combine was attacking the LDF in Kerala.
The BJP and the RSS were unleashing a murderous attack on the Left cadres with the intention of destabilising the LDF government.
“But be warned that Kerala will not allow the reactionary forces to rule the roost,” he said. The LDF government is the choice of the people, he said and “if the reactionary forces want to defeat the choice of the people through violence, we will defeat those moves through democratic methods,” he said.
Mr. Yechury said that the October Revolution was the child of Marxism and demonstrated to the world for the first time that it was possible to create a society without exploitation and oppression.
The October Revolution also played a big role in the defeat of the fascists in World War-II. It was this victory that gave the impetus even in India for the liberation from colonialism, he said.
The meeting was preceded by a red volunteer march in which hundreds of men, women and children took part. CPI(M) State secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan was present. The party’s district secretary, K.N. Balagopal presided over the function.
