BJP all-India secretary H. Raja on Saturday accused the Oommen Chandy government of taking false credit for the Vizhinjam harbour project, which according to him was a gift of the Narendra Modi government to the State.
He was addressing a BJP convention in Palakkad after announcing party candidates for the municipal elections. Terming the local body elections as a dress rehearsal for the Assembly elections, Mr. Raja said the BJP would considerably improve its prospects in the local body elections. He also said the party would wrest administration of the Palakkad municipality.
Saying that there was no ban on eating beef in Kerala, Mr. Raja said the beef festivals sponsored by student wings of the Left parties were in fact part of an effort to gain political mileage out of the sensitive issue. He also accused the CPI(M) of causing communal polarisation by initiating a false propaganda on the issue.
He released a list of 49 candidates for the Palakkad municipal election.
