The treetop bamboo cottages erected by the Forest Department on the banks of the Kallar at Adavi near Konni as part of the Adavi Ecotourism Project is all set for commissioning.

The Bamboo Corporation has constructed five bamboo cottages and a dining hall at a cost of Rs.35 lakh. The local MLA and Revenue Minister, Adoor Prakash, said the ecotourism project launched by the departments of Forests and Tourism in Konni have already given a big boost to the region’s tourism potential.

Forest Minister Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan will inaugurate the cottages on Monday. District Collector S. Harikishore said the government had moved the Central Tourism Department for the inclusion of Konni in the India Tourism Circuit by promoting the eco-tourism ventures at Adavi and Gavi.

The coracle ride introduced in the Kallar at Adavi a year ago has been attracting tourists from different parts of the State.
