This is a time for rejuvenation in the education sector, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has said.

He was speaking after distributing school textbooks and free handloom uniforms at Karthika Tirunal Government Vocational and Higher Secondary School for Girls, Manacaud, on Wednesday.

The government was trying to ensure 200 working days for schools, and hence it had been decided to reopen schools on June 1, Mr. Vijayan said.

Palpable changes

Changes were being witnessed in the education sector. As part of that teachers were being given training. The government was committed to helping students. It had been decided to hand over Braille learning aids to visually challenged students.

Steps had been taken to identify and deploy adequate workers to manufacture handloom uniforms for students.

Lack of textbooks

Lack of textbooks was one major complaint in the previous years. However, this time, textbooks had been made available one month before the academic session got under way.

The Chief Minister handed over Braille textbooks to Indrarjun, Nimisha, and Nkhil Nair. Manacaud school students Aishwarya, Parvathi, Geetanjali, and Ashwani were given new textbooks and uniforms.

Minister for Industries A.C. Moideen presided over the function

Minister for Education C. Ravindranath said distribution of textbooks and uniforms before schools reopened was an achievement.
