Gold ornaments worth Rs.22,000 were stolen from the Anithakulam Sree Devi temple near Thodupuzha on Sunday night.

The Kaliyar police said the thieves entered the temple breaking the lock of the front door and made away with four gold crowns, a chain and a ‘thali' used to adorn the deity. The theft was noticed on Monday morning when the priest arrived to conduct the daily pujas.

A police team led by the temple squad, and fingerprint experts visited the spot.
