Tenants seek govt. help

May 24, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:42 am IST - MALAPPURAM:

The Kerala Kettida Parppida Vadaka Kshema Samithi has appealed to the government to save tenants in the State from exploitation.

A body formed to uphold the rights of tenants and take care of their welfare, the samithi said it would begin a mass signature campaign on Sunday to highlight their woes.

About one lakh signatures of tenants would be collected and sent to the government, asking it to revise the terms of contracts.

State president P.M. Safarulla said here on Friday that the lease agreements should be made for five years by reducing the stamp duty to one per cent.
