A multi-crore drinking water project, meant to address water scarcity in five grama panchayats in Tanur Assembly constituency, will be finalised soon, Minister for Water Resources P.J. Joseph has said.
The Rs. 86-crore project had gone through all formalities and would be given the final go-ahead in the next expert committee meeting, he said.
Mr. Joseph was speaking after inaugurating the renovated Conolly Canal at Tanur on Sunday.
He said the canal would be made part of the National Waterway by beautifying the remaining part.
The Conolly Canal was renovated in Tanur constituency by spending Rs.8 crore. Presiding over the function, Abdurahman Randathani, MLA, said that increasing water transport facilities would enhance the tourism potential of the region.
