Students of Greenwoods Public School, Bekal, planted 2,000 saplings on the campus and in its vicinity as part of an afforestation drive on World Environment Day on Friday.
As part of the celebration, Ayurvedic physician and Vanmithra award winner Charakan interacted with students and narrated the herbal value of a few plants such as tulas and neem.
Principal M. Ramachandran, who presided over the function, spoke on ‘Seven billion dreams, one planet and consume with care.’.
The school PTA members took part in the day-long programme.
